Dog Park Bars in the Triangle
Have you ever been to a dog park and watched your precious Fluffy try to hump every other dog and thought to yourself, “I could really use a beer right now?” What about when you were enjoying happy hour with your friends, and Fluffy was tied to your picnic bench, but you were sitting there thinking, “Gosh, it would be great to let her off-leash right now.” Good news… you have options! The dog park + bar combo is growing in popularity and there a handful of options coming to the Triangle.
Dog Park and Bars in the Raleigh Area
Dog park bars are rapidly gaining popularity across Raleigh and Cary, driven by a growing community of pet parents who want the best of both worlds—a place where their dogs can run free while they enjoy a drink or meal. Once a rarity, these hybrid venues are now thriving, and adding new concepts—including multi‑service locations with events, memberships, and dog‑centric programming. The Triangle is becoming a legit hotspot for four‑legged sociability.
Let’s take a look at some of our favorite locations!
The Bark Bar – 327 S Academy St, Cary, NC 27511
The Run Down:
- Open-air pavilion adjacent to the extensive Barkyard
- Two sections for large and small breeds
- Beer, wine, non-alcoholic beverages, and light snacks available
Why go: Twelve rotating taps, wines by the glass, and non-alcoholic options are served from an airy pavilion that backs directly onto the Barkyard—10,000 sq ft of turf, tunnels, splash pads, and separate “Biggies” and “Smalls” play zones. Memberships to Cary dog parks—or a $5 day pass—unlock the gate. Dogs must be vaccinated; humans can roam until 11 p.m. each night.
Pro tip: Grab a pint at golden hour, then stroll the new skywalk and water-feature terraces that made Downtown Cary Park a 2024 design-award finalist.
West Street Dog – 400 W. North Street, Raleigh NC 27603
The Run Down:
- Members-only indoor off-leash area with artificial turf and full-service bar
- Additional on-leash bar
- Doggy daycare, bathing, and overnight dog and cat boarding services
Why go: Raleigh’s first indoor off-leash dog bar—complete with climate-controlled turf—means no weather cancellations, ever. Evenings and weekends, the 21-and-up dog park opens beside a full bar (kiddos are welcome only in the leashed front lounge). Memberships run $28/month, or drop in with a day pass; the same facility doubles as daycare, boarding (cats too!), and a self-wash spa.
Pro tip: Download the West Street Dog app to reserve peak slots or buy merch that funnels a portion of proceeds to local rescues.
COMING SOON:
The Yard – 1115 W. Lenoir St., Raleigh
- Opening TBD
- Bar, café, and off-leash dog park, coming soon to Raleigh’s Boylan Heights neighborhood
What They’re Saying: Site prep and permitting are underway on a 5,400-sq-ft grass run plus shaded patios built from repurposed shipping containers. Expect organic café fare, craft beer, cocktails, and a pet-wash station when doors open (tentatively late 2025). Sustainability is baked in—from toxin-free turf to solar-ready roofs. Memerships will be required for dogs only; humans can enjoy the cafe without one.
Why we’re excited: Founder/artist Taylor White plans to create “an idyllic, welcoming, and healthy environment for pet owners to relax, socialize, and work, while their pets get their exercise.”
(HOPEFULLY) COMING SOON:
Doggos Dog Park & Club – Raleigh?
Greensboro’s beloved Doggos (10,000+ sq ft of indoor/outdoor play, “Rufferee” supervision, and yes, beer) has suggested they are interested in opening a Raleigh location. Watch their socials or snag a Founding Dog Membership to lock in lifetime perks once ground finally breaks!
