If your dog still has energy after off-leash play, the rest of Page Ellington Park welcomes leashed dogs and features beautiful running and walking paths, shelters, and a natural water habitat with a two-acre pond.

 

2. Emily Douglas Dog Park

Tucked away in Emily Douglas Park, this pup recreation area provides plenty of shade, a few benches, and a doggie drinking area. Note that there are no separate areas for large and small dogs, but reviewers praise the terrain and shaded environment.

 

Membership & Permit Parks in Columbia, SC

For exclusive perks like doggy swimming pools and playground equipment, Columbia offers several membership-based parks. Note: Most of these parks require proof of up-to-date vaccinations (including rabies, parvo, and kennel cough) and proof that your dog has been spayed or neutered.

 

1. NoMA (North Main) Bark Park

Situated in the heart of downtown Columbia inside Earlewood Park, this 1.5 to 2-acre park is packed with amenities. If you are visiting from out of town, you can contact them in advance with vet records to arrange a visit.

 

2. The Barking Lot Dog Park at Saluda Shoals Park

Known for being a huge space with plenty of room to romp, this two-acre fenced park is famous for its two small bone-shaped pools—perfect for cooling off during hot summer months. Membership is around $40 annually. Just keep in mind that the park is closed every Tuesday from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM for maintenance.

3. Columbia Dog Park

Located right beside the Columbia City animal shelter, this fenced park boasts an in-ground doggie pond for your water-loving pup. With lots of comfy chairs for humans to relax in, a $50 annual pass gives you unlimited access to the park and pond, plus a special tag for your dog’s collar.

 

4. Dog Park at Sesquicentennial State Park

This park features a two-acre, fenced-in off-leash area with shallow splash pools. You will need a permit from the park office, which costs $25 annually or $4 for a daily pass. Tip: Dogs must be present for photo identification to get their permit!.
